Take Me Away

If you're a long time reader of this blog you'll know that this isn't my first time partnering up with eShakti. eShakti is an online women's clothing retailer that customizes clothing for women sizes 0-36. Aside from what seems like millions of designs and fabric patterns they have to offer, you can further customize your piece of clothing by changing the neckline, adding/removing sleeves, and pockets.

As I was perusing their website for additional information, I noticed that eShakti had included information on labor laws, wages, and work environment for the workers. For the past couple of years I've felt unsettled with the idea of sustainability in fashion and the overall lack of social responsibility in the apparel industry.  eShakti only employs workers 18+ and exceeds the minimum wage by 70%. Working conditions are well lit and ventilated, with toilet and sanitation facilities. These all seem like basic human rights, but the reality of the situation is that many factory workers overseas are children who work 60+ hours a week making pennies. The fact that eShakti is transparent and so forthcoming with information on how they treat their workers fairly is something all clothing companies should strive towards.

You can check out this super whimsical and cute dress I'm wearing here: Balloon Print Belted Crepe Dress. They also offer $25 off your first purchase!
