Food Porn- Winterlicious

This year I managed to try two restaurants for Winterlicious.  Winterlicious an event where a bunch of participating restaurants offer a fixed price menu with different options for appetizers, mains, and desserts.  The prices are $15, $20, $25 for lunch and $25, $35, and $45 for dinner. I find these prices are quite reasonable because they are all 3 course meals at pricier restaurants that I would not have tried out if it hadn't been for Winterlicious.

Enjoy the photos and hope you all have a lovely weekend!

Toula Restaurant at the Westin Harbour Castle

We ended up having dinner here for $35. Portions were small but just the right amount for us girls! Plus no food was wasted :) The location is also quite lovely because it's on the 38th floor and has an amazing view of downtown Toronto and Lake Ontario. Well.. it would be even lovelier if Toronto wasn't a scene straight out of The Day After Tomorrow.

Grande Tagliere Misto
A Variety of D.O.P. Imported Prosciutto Di Parma, Handmade Salumi, Imported D.O.P. Mozzarella di Buffala Caprese, Artisan Cheeses From Italy and Caramelized Fruit Preserves, Served on the Toula Grand Wooden Board

Toula Grande Surf and Turf
Perfectly Grilled Beef Tenderloin Seasoned with Herbs on top of Roasted Garlic, Black Truffle and Fontina Cheese, Accompanied by Grilled Tiger Shrimp Wrapped in D.O.P Prosciutto and Mashed Potatoes

Dark & White Chocolate Parfait with a Berry Coulis

Trio Restaurant in Novotel

The first time I ate at Trio was during Summerlicious last summer.  The location is super convenient (connected to the subway, and its close to where I live) and the food you get for $15 is a steal.  However, I did find that the portions for Winterlicious were a lot smaller than Summerlicious. The food was absolutely delicious. Unfortunately I don't have the descriptions for the images below because they took down the Winterlicious site :(

P.S Who's watching the Olympics?

Happy Valentines Day!

It's been awhile since I've posted but I managed to do a quick DIY nail art for Valentines Day.  Usually I'm not a huge fan of this over commercialized holiday, but I was feeling festive lat night and whipped this look up!

You will need
- White Nail Polish (Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear)
- Red Nail Polish ( Essie- She's Pampered)
- Glitter polish
- Top Coat
- Dotting Tool (I used the back of a concealor brush)
- Small paint brush

Paint your nails alternating between red and white.
Create small dots using a dotting tool (ebay is a good place for this) or the back of a makeup brush. *Takes a bit of practice and precision making sure there isn't too much polish on the tool in order to create similar sized dots.

Create a heart at the tip of your nail by using a small paint brush. Start off with painting a V like outline. Then slowly build it up so the corners are rounded. *Totally optional, but I added some glitter on top of the white to add a bit of sass
