Home

It's always nice to be back home and around family. I never realize how much I miss something until I experience it again. The feeling of familiarity is so comforting.

Plus, nothing beats driving 15 min and finding places like this...

Golden

Even though I've been working like mad for the past 2 weeks, I've still managed to score some sweet deals.  Most of my purchases have been at Urban Outfitters where they had an extra 50% all sale items. You really can't go wrong with $15 Cheap Monday Jeans and a fringed necklace for $5.

BRO-CADE

These pictures were taken over the weekend but due to a crazy work week with 12-16 hour days I've been unable to blog.  It also means that I haven't had time to go to the gym and prep my beach bod. If worst comes to worst I'll just do this.

Anyways, I didn't plan on buying anything from the Marni for H&M collection just because I found their price point to be quite high and the quality to be average.  The only reason why I got this gorgeous brocade skirt was because it was 70% off. The pleating design is pretty unique and done so well! Plus, it creates volume giving me the the illusion that I have a butt when in reality my body resembles more along the lines of a pubescent teenage boy.

NYC outakes

Amber and I in our ready to eat poses.
These girls were so sweet to accompany me to NYC on a long a torturous bus ride.
As much as I would like to watch this movie, I'm not a fan of Efron.

Have a good weekend!

OOTD: Dear Weather....

School has ended for a couple of weeks now and I'm just getting into the groove of finding things to do and being productive. Nothing like going from not sleeping for weeks to having an empty schedule book. Hopefully this means more blogging, styling for shoots, and learning how to cook without poisoning anyone. What are your plans for summer? Any recommendations for books/recipes?

This was originally an interview outfit but the weather disagreed with me and flipped me the bird. I then told it to take a Midol. Let's just say the weather didn't take it that well.

FAT 2012 in a Nutshell

A week and a half ago I attended FAT [Fashion Art Toronto]. It's always refreshing to see different designs that you wouldn't ordinarily see in Toronto Fashion Week.  This year there were a lot of corset collections that were exceptionally well made, and menswear collections that pushed the boundaries. Here were some of my favourite designs...

Melted Mint

I've been a fan of this pale mint green for the past 3-4 years (ever since Mint Candy Apple by Essie came out). That's why when stores started making everything in this color for spring summer, I had no complaints.  It's one of the few colors that compliment my skin tone. I avoid orange, and yellow as it clashes with my yellow undertones, and coral/reds as it brings out my blemishes. This mint green is perfect when you want to bring out that non-existent tan that you have been nursing all winter.

After wearing this top once, I decided to wash and iron it. Like the well educated detail oriented fashion student I am, I accidentally set my iron too high and melted a huge hole in it. I was so devastated that I went back the next day to purchase another one but they were sold out in my size. I settled for a larger size. I think I'm just thankful that this was a $20 top and not more.
