OOTD: Fashion Week Day 5

So shit pretty much hit the fan last week as I was at school for 15 hours and didnt leave until 3 AM. Went home to shower, napped for an hour and got up for school at 6 AM. Hence the reason why I am still milking these Fashion Week posts the same way I squeeze the last drop of tooth paste from the tube. Yeah you know who you are...

Fashion Week Day 2 OOTD

So school has been crazy busy as in it's 3:30 AM and I just got home from school. I have 4 hours to finish assignments, and apply for internships before I have to be back at school. So here's just a quick outfit post I took during the second day of Toronto Fashion Week.

Toronto Fashion Week F/W 2012- Eva Chen

Eva Chen's Fall/Winter 2012 collection Elegance consisted of wearable suits for the fashionable business woman and romantic gowns filled with tulle, sequins, and feathers. The style and design lines were clean and thoughtfully placed which accentuated and elongated the female figure. Last Friday I had the pleasure of going backstage to have a quick interview Eva Chen during Toronto Fashion Week.

Was there a specific moment you decided to pursue a career in fashion design?
"Not really... I just wanted a creative outlet.  I wanted every piece to be a dream come true."

Where do you find your inspiration?
"Inspiration comes from everywhere. It can come from just about anywhere.  I can be walking down the street when I think of a new idea."

I've noticed that you have lived in many different places such as Singapore, New York, and Vancouver. Do these places influence your designs?
"Yes, I find that if I live in Vancouver, my designs are more laid back.  It really depends on where I am living when I am designing my collection."

What does being part of the Canadian fashion industry mean to you?
"I love doing shows with Toronto Fashion Week.  They are really professional and it's really an amazing experience."

Toronto Fashion Week Fall 2012- Day 5

The last day of Fashion Week was absolutely painful courtesy of my philosophy paper due that morning. With only 2 hours of sleep that morning I could barely keep my eyes open in between shows. I literally went home and passed out, hence the reason why this post is a day late. Though I was contemplating on doing this tomorrow (I have been sewing a bustle for 14 hours straight today and totally feel like a sweatshop worker right now) I decided to suck it up and upload these pictures. Anyways, hope you all have a great weekend!

Toronto Fashion Week Fall 2012- Day 4

Today was a bummer as I missed Ashtiani by Golnaz Ashtiani, and Triarchy due to class. However the shows I did attend were pretty amazing. Last post I did a cliffsnote version for each designer well today its going to be a 1-2 sentence an annotated summary as I must reserve my finger muscles for an unwritten paper due tomorrow.

Caitlin Power showcased a menswear and womenswear line that had a lot of architectural shapes in the designs. I loved how both the male and female models rocked the silver triangular cuff collar necklace!

Rudsak, another menswear and womeswear collection had a lot of ready to wear pieces filled with puffy fur trimmed jackets as well as tailored jacekts. I did enjoy the half leather half wool men's jackets and the cable cord knit lining inside the hoods.

Ezra Constantine by Kirk Pickersgill and Steven Wong had a little S&M theme going on for their ready to wear menswear collection. And by little, I mean one model was holding a whip.

Pink Tartan is always a fun to watch as I often pass by their clothes in The Bay. It was a very typical Pink Tartan show with tailored business pieces with a couple of feathered pieces and fur jackets. One thing I did hate were the furry boots/leg warmers. It just reminded me of gogo dancers...or Snooki.

David Dixon had a dramatic Albert Hitchcock bird themed show starting off with a film, and adding crazy sound effects in between two mini collections that sounded like you were being attacked by birds and eaten alive. Many of these photos are closeups as I adored the accessories, and the different types of fabrics he used!
