Off To The Races

I wore this outfit to the Persona Non Grata Art Initiative last Friday.  It was an amazing event that reminded me that no matter how much things aren't going my way, there are kids out in this world who don't have parents and are struggling everyday to have their basic needs met. Being immersed in an industry that is so materialistic and appearance based, it's so easy to forget what is important.  I don't plan on saving the world, but for me, at the end of the day, I think I sleep a little better knowing that I've made a difference in somebody's life.

Speaking of making a difference if anyone can point me in the direction of just watermelon jolly ranchers in Toronto, I will be forever grateful. I swear they stopped making them...

Persona Non Grata Art Initiative

Last Friday I attended the Persona Non Grata Art Initiative . The event supports Rachel's Home, a home for children orphaned by the HIV/AIDS epidemic in Lesotho, Africa. My lovely friend Stephanie Vizi was there earlier this year and gave each of the orphans a camera to use.  These aren't just photos of life in Lesotho but they allow the audience to see the orphan's lives through their eyes.

Adrian Wu also showed off a couple of pieces that were inspired by these photographs. There were also the most delicious cupcakes from We Bake in Heels with a custom Persona Non Grata Art Initiative logo on them. It was so good that I finished it before I could snap a picture. David's Tea was there with samples of Tropicalia which I HAVE to go out and get because it was just mind blowing.  If you want to try a cold tea that tastes like pina colada, is sweet enough without having to add sugar, and caffeine free, Tropicalia is the one.

Anyways, hope you all had a lovely weekend!

Firstly, thank you for all of your positive and uplifting comments in my last post! Unfortunately, it is another slow start to the week. First thing I did this morning was watch True Blood. To be honest, I'm getting a bit sick of the story line, Tara always gets the short end of the stick, while Eric and Sookie keeps toying with my emotions. I then went back to sleep, rolled my way to the kitchen, ate lunch, and went back to sleep. How am I not obese? I don't know. I feel like I have managed to cheat the system somehow. It's probably because I'm Asian...

In the afternoon I had another driving lesson and went on the highway for the first time. After driving for 2 hours I'm pretty sure I got motion sickness from my own driving. I'm just going to pull out the Asian card on that one again...

Kinda Outta Luck

So it's been slow couple of weeks in regards to work. And when I say slow,  I really mean to say non existent. With all this time on my hands, I'm cleaning my apartment, and reorganizing my room OCD style. And by OCD style I mean spending 10 minutes deciding if the forest green marker should be placed before the teal green. Hopefully next week will be a better week..

Fantastics- Block Party

I know posts have been scarce lately. I got back from visiting Raincouver last week and have been crazy busy with driving lessons (yes I drive like an old lady),  and just the usual OCD ADD room cleaning/ reorganizing phase. What do you guys have planned for the summer?

Anyways, here is the latest shoot I styled. It was just published in Fantasics Mag.

Pawn Shop Blues

I’ve been a fan of Jacob since I was young, I would raid the Jacob Jr. section while my mother shopped at Jacob.  I really like Jacob as a brand not just because of the timeless pieces they have but the company beliefs such as using images of models in their campaigns that have not been retouched.  And when they chose to use Coco Rocha, (one of my favourite models from my hometown Richmond in their campaign last year), I was over the moon.

I placed an order for a pinstripe sleeveless blouse and gingham dress online a couple weeks ago and received it approximately 5 business days later. Ordering and checkout was an absolute breeze.  Their sizing charts were accurate and their stock seemed quite good even though many of the items were on sale. I also really liked how user friendly it was with a description, material, care instruction, and delivery and return info  section on every product.

After this photoshoot (shot by Paul and Roderick at Fotowok at the Shangri-La) I have realized that I
a) Love putting my hands in my pockets. Seriously, every shot  I've seen  had my hands in my pockets. It's like that one time where accidentally spilled crazy glue...
b) I am attracted to patterns that make my eyes hurt if I stare too long

Have a lovely weekend!

Spanish Sahara

I surprised my brother last week when I came home unannounced to attend his convocation. Despite my mother cleaning my bedroom weeks in advance and asking for an extra ticket to his graduation, he had absolutely no idea. Sigh... Boys.

Sometimes I wonder what goes on in their heads. My daily train of thoughts usually go something like must locate food, blogging, shoes, thinking about exercising, food...OH CATs.
