DIY- Winter Tips

This could be one of the worst nail tutorials that I'm every going to post... for multiple reasons. I took these pictures during exam time aka nail peeling/biting relapse time therefore my nails look a bit uncivilized.  Secondly, I fell asleep after doing my nails, hence the very apparent sheet marks on my thumb.  Lastly, I actually forgot to take pictures for the gradient silver polish. SO... here goes nothing.

You will need...
OPI- My Boyfriend Scales Walls // Gosh- Silver // Glitter Polish for Daiso // Out the Deck // Sponge// Old tag or business card

1. Paint 2-3 coats of My Boyfriend Scales Walls. I like this color because it's whiteout white but a light blue white.

2. Using a sponge, dab a bit of silver polish at the tip of the nail making sure the tip is the most dense

You can also paint a thin layer at the tip to avoid less less dabbing

3. Using a glitter polish paint over a layer of glitter where the gradient appears. This looks best with two sizes of glitter eg: fine and octagonal.  There is also an option to sprinkle loose glitter on clear polish.

4. Finish it off with your favorite top coat!

One thing that I'm still getting used to is the bipolar weather. Once I see a glimmer of sun, I would go to the washroom to touch up my makeup. By the time I run out the door, it would look like a scene from one of those 'the world is ending' movies.

Being back home is weird. Everything seems foreign. And by foreign, I mean forgetting where the utensils are placed and forgetting my faucet is much higher than my faucet back in Toronto resulting in me bashing my forehead against it when I washed my face.

Anyways.. hope ya'll have a lovely weekend!

Magpie Darling- Out Cast

So I have officially finally finished my 2nd last semester today!  I'm also back home in Vancouver so it's time to pig out and watch tons of television! It's a big week for finales, Dexter, The Voice, X Factor....

This was a recent magazine spread I styled for featured in Magpie Darling.  It was definitely a rough day considering how hot it was.  We also had to fight off a million bees since there was a nest hanging off of the roof on one of the houses.  I don't think they really appreciate the bright flashes come from the camera.

Is that your Grandma's Coat?

Posts have been scarce due to exam season.  Finished my first exam today with a full bladder. After writing countless of exams, I still haven't learned to avoid drinking a whole bottle of water before or during the exam.

I haven't had to time to do any outfit so here's an old one from a couple weeks ago. This outfit is a huge mashup of all of my family's clothes.  The sweater belongs to Poppa Bear, the super cute skirt with acorns on it used to belong to Momma Bear, and the jacket belonged to my Grandma.

Hope you are all having a lovely week!

Pick Me Up

The weather has been a bit depressing lately with very little to no sun. As much as I love my dark vampy and depressing polishes, sometimes, all I need is a super bright manicure for a little pick me up.

This look is super easy, all you need is tape, 2 colors and optional top and base coat.  I used Butter London's Jaffa, and Primrose Picnic.  I really liked pairing these two colors together because the tone of them are very similar. People at first don't usually see the two colors at first glance because of this but I think that is why I like it so much. It looks like a simple manicure but its got an extra oomph to it when they realize there are two colors!

 1. Tape half of your nail. You really need to push the tape along the edges and near the cuticle to avoid any polish seeping in.

2. I used 2 coats of Primrose Picnic

 3. This part is a little tricky, I removed the tape and painted the other side with Jaffa with no tape.

I've been making more of an effort to do cool hairstyles lately.  This is due to the fact that I've booked my next haircut appointment where I plan to cut off 8" (the minimum length for donation). I totally had a nightmare where I thought I was doing a good cause by donating my hair to the needy eg: like cancer patients.  In reality, they were just using it to make false eyelashes... Anyways, I'm rocking the 4 strand braid here. Fairly easy (thanks to youtube) it's like weaving a basket on my head, like so.

Can't Hug Every Cat

As some may know, I am a huge cat lover.  Unfortunately, I'm allergic to them therefore limiting me to pictures and youtube videos. Photographer Miyoko Ihara has been taking pictures of her grandmother for Misao and kitten Fukumaru for 13 years.  Her grandmother found the abandoned kitten behind a shed and took it in.  These are the sweetest pictures you will ever see. Prepare to melt!

I'm in Paris ya'll! I'm kidding, that's just a cell phone tower outside the window of my school computer lab. I was in there for hours, looked out the window, started hallucinating, and totally thought I was in Paris.

School has finally slowed down a bit so I'm excited to update my blog a little more than once a week. The shirt from this outfit was another find from one of my favourite vintage stores from Stella Luna.  It's got a really cool Parisian scene printed on it.  I found it really hard to style just because I wanted to tuck it in, but then you wouldn't be able to see half the scene on the shirt.

Anyways, hope ya'll have a lovely weekend!
