When Good Ideas Become Bad

A couple of months ago I decided to buy this dress on the Forever 21 Canada website. It was mainly the high low hem that really caught my eye, and it was a stretchy knit black dress which is, in my opinion, a very safe choice. Let's just say that I was very very wrong.

The low part of the hem cut way too close to my knee (okay to be fair, I am short BUT WHO HAS LEGS LIKE THAT??) The material was super thin and sheer. The crochet like knit bodice had sequins woven into it which screamed old lady. Furthermore it had this weird dolman sleeve that wasn't too loose but restricted me from recklessly flailing my arms around (this I do often).

Basically what I am trying to say is that, I put this dress on and I looked like a confused old witch stuck in a young woman's body the morning after Halloween.

Thankfully I got my store credit and picked up this chain bib necklace a couple days ago. I absolutely adore this because it reminds me of chain mail armor!

And this studded pyramid cuff was a gift from my dear friend (the same one who called my jacket a potato sack). The weight of this bracelet is amazing, more importantly, it fits me without falling right off my wrist. Wonder what snide remark she has to say about this....

  1. Awe BUMMER about the dress, I hate it when that happens when ordering stuff online and the fabric sucks or the fit is off..Ugh total disappointment! The way you wrote about it was too funny though :) The necklace you replaced it with is cool AND your friend did good with that cuff! X

  6. I love shopping online! It's practically the only way I shop anymore but sometimes I am unpleasantly surprised at the fit or even the color once it arrives... Glad you found a fabulous exchange!!

  7. That really sucks, I hate it when I order something online and when I get it in the mail it looks nothing like it! That really drives me crazy, it's like they are made to look much nicer for the web. But great exchange, the necklace does have an armor feel to it.

  11. That's why I'm not comfortable buying clothes online. I NEED to be able to see and feel every bit of the item before I commit to buying it. Plus, I'm rather lazy when it comes to returning items so half the time if I do get something, they just get pushed to the back of my closet. Kudos on the exchange :) love the necklace!

  23. I really hate it when that happens! That's probably the worst thing about online shopping, - you can never tell if it's what you wanted.

But at least you got some great accessories!

  25. I too have the trouble of finding dresses and skirts that don't look just downright awkward on me due to being only five feet tall. And I have small wrists, too! It is so difficult to find watches, bracelets, and bangles that don't just slip right off. Oh, to be teeny. Also, I feel like you can't order clothes online at Forever like you used to. I feel like nowadays their pieces look completely different when you get them, and they almost always look cheaper. I never used to have that problem! Hmph. :(
